TikTok & Instagram Trends: April
Have you downloaded Instagram Edits yet?
It was released on April 22nd and over 7 Million People downloaded it in the first week.
For the most part, the interface is just like TikTok studio.
There are two main reasons I suggest downloading it:
1) The Analytics. Now you can review reels you’ve made up to a year ago with much more in-depth analytics. You’ll see:
Skip rate - The %age of views that skipped the first 3 seconds of your reel.
Average Watch Time - The average amt. of time spent watching your reel.
Like Rate - The percentage of views where your reel was liked.
Share Rate - The percentage of views where your reel was shared.
Comment Rate - The percentage of views where your reel received a comment.
Save Rate - The percentage of views where your reel was saved
2) Stickie Notes
I thought this was a fun way to avoid a million ‘notes app’ screens!
A questionable number 3) Some say that IG favors videos made within the edits app.
(IG denies this - but I give a HEAVY side eye.)
I think it is ABSOLUTELY worth your time to get familiar with Edits if you are a primarily IG creator.
On to the content prompts for the week!
Narrator V.O
Ever seen those videos where a smooth voiceover casually roasts the person on screen? That's the narrator voice trend, and it's gold for engagement (this trend is so 2000s Disney Channel, I can’t) .
Here's how it works:
Your video: You doing something (packing orders, mom life chaos, responding to a DM, a day in your life as X).
The voiceover: A third-person narrator (sassy, deadpan, or dramatic) who describes the scene.
Add some humor to the story in the form of "wait, did they just say that?" moments.
Why do people like it so much?
Stories + emotion = longer viewing time (aka the algorithm's crush).
How to do it in CapCut (no editing degree required)
Open CapCut → New Project → Import your video.
Tap on "Audio" → "Text to Speech" → Enter your script (example below).
Select your narrator's voice Adjust timing - drag the audio to match the action.
Delete the text (if you only want the voice).
Done. Publish.
You can also do this with other apps that offer the text to speech feature (like Tiktok).
Narrator Voice Ideas for Moms & Mompreneurs
"And here we see a mother of three trying to drink coffee before it gets cold. Spoiler: She fails."
"Watch as this boss mom frantically packs orders while her kids reenact Jurassic Park in the background."
"She said 'screen time is limited'... then discovered Bluey buys her 22 minutes of peace."
Pro Tip: The funnier/more relatable the story, the harder it hits. Try it today-your audience will love the behind-the-scenes storytelling.
Examples: Amber, How to, Eldest Daughter Syndrome, Alison, FFF, Carolina, Abbie.
