TikTok August Trends: 2025

Instagram released Maps & Reposts this week.

Most people were pretty turned off by Maps as they didn’t want their location shared.

I think for many Moms, we’re already very mindful of what we do and don’t share online because we feel protective of our children.

We’ve been scared by real-life stories and would never want to compromise our kids.

While I’m a loud proponent of not letting fear determine what you share, I think this is a valid concern.

So it must be weighed against the potential benefits…

I think it could be strategic to use it (if you don’t mind, of course) as it’s a new way your profile will ‘surface’ to your followers and remind them of you.

It won’t gain you new followers, just remind your existing base that you’re there.

Think of it as a similar effect of ‘Notes’ - not everyone does it, but when they do, you see them.

I also think that brands should use this as a signal to connect their ‘real life’ with their ‘digital life’ as much as possible.

My EOY and 2026 prediction is that events and brand marketing will meld with social, as people crave in-person and authentic experiences in the noise of the AI-driven, doomsday, and crowded digital content world.

Brands will need to ask themselves how they can best create entertainment - Is It In person with experiences or mini-branded TV series?

Either direction they choose, social should be at the forefront of designing the production.

And thus enters a good reason for brands to use Maps.

Think ‘catch us if you can’ style pop-ups, aligning with the ‘hot spots’ and Influencer boat trips with Maps turned on!

So, how are you feeling about the new Maps feature as a creator?

If my Maps feature were turned on, you’d see that I drove 4 hours from home this weekend to take my daughter to check off one of her bucket list items - a silent disco!

The experience was magical, and the perfect cherry on top of a summer of quality time.

I am soaking in the magic, preparing for a busy fall with new clients and team members!

On to the content prompts and trends for the week!

You Need To Nerd Out

This popular audio dares you to stop hiding your inner geek and embrace it fully. It begins with a voiceover: "You need to nerd out." That's your cue! Lip sync, hold a straight face, or flash a knowing smirk.

Then, the music starts playing, "Yes, I'm a punk rocker, yes, I am," and that's your moment to reveal your obsession in all its glory.

This isn't about liking something casually. It's about having shelves stacked with collectibles, walls covered in posters, closets crammed with costumes, and a setup so specific that only the truest fans will understand it.

The more over-the-top or niche your reveal is, the funnier and more impressive it will be.

Bonus: Add the text overlay "You need to nerd out" to the first clip so your video fits neatly into the trend.

Remember, right now, when the internet feels crowded with sameness, this trend gives you permission to show what you love without apology. Go big. Go weird. Go all in and be Authentic!
