In 2017 my goal was to recover from postpartum depression. I quit my stressful job and moved out of my 700-square-foot apartment in NYC. It was also the help of a little app on my phone that brought me back to feeling good.

As a small business owner, the reason you got into business can be one of the best marketing tools you have available to you.

One of the people I think does this incredibly well is Spanx Founder Sarah Blakely. She is now one of the world’s richest self-made women, yet she frequently retells her story of being a fax machine saleswoman with an idea for cutting the feet out of pantyhose. It’s been over 20 years, and that story is still consistently landing in her top 9 Instagram posts.

After a trying year of pandemic world, my little family and I had decided to book a family vacation to a far of destination. We needed the release, the de-stress, the adventure, the change of scenery.

What I didn’t expect, was to be walking down the beach with my family, enjoying the sunshine and freedom, and get a barrage of notifications from my Instagram.

I know what you’re thinking… oh so I have to go to Hawaii and get some incredible iconic footage of me in a bikini with white sand to go viral. But I promise you, that’s not where we are headed.

I can’t believe that just about 1 year ago I was writing a blog post about my first viral video…

And here we are hitting MEGA VIRAL in 2023 on my TikTok account.

As I re-read my post from last year, I found myself laughing at the things I said.

I still wholeheartedly believe all of them.

You see, one viral video has power, but it’s not EVERYTHING.
