You know what I wish?

I wish that I never left anything unsaid.

I wish that I used my voice to its fullest capacity.

If I could go back in time…

I would scream a little bit louder.

I would laugh a little bit harder.

I would be bolder and less afraid.

This week in ACN’s The Download ( our virtual sessions with experts ) we had the honor of speaking with Emily Casell Copeland of WMN.Up an Emily In Your Business.

She’s a community builder and business woman who found herself becoming an ‘accidental political Influencer’ in 2024.

And being political on the Internet?

That takes proverbial balls.

Emily talked to us about saying things on the Internet that can be deemed controversial, and how she handles it with grace and passion.

These days, our algorithms are ‘interest based’ - and controversial topics like politics get tons of engagement because they bring out energy (and rage) in people.

It’s the things that ‘aren’t polite to say at the dinner table’ that get the internet ablaze.

Take your pick - sex, religion, politics.

And what Emily taught me is that there is no shame in speaking your mind, even If It repels others.

In fact, you should do it joyously and with a smile.

Emily embodies this in her online presence. She talks about what she is passionate about, and without guilt or concern - she does it with a sense of joy. It’s as if the haters weren’t coming for her.

She’s realized that by repelling some, she invites in the right people who are aligned with her.

That’s a critical piece of information to understand if you are growing an audience in the divisive internet space.

Some would call it ‘having a shared enemy’ with your community.

Emily wouldn’t.

She just calls it speaking her truth and being excited to find others who believe the same.

I left the conversation feeling braver, and more motivated to find the ‘stances’ I’m willing to take.

Social Trend of the Week

This trend is all about those tiny, specific moments that take you from feeling down and on the brink of despair to feeling like life is good again and everything makes total sense.

It’s not about the big milestones or major life changes. It’s about the small triggers that completely flip your energy.

To join in, just pair a simple B-roll with overlay text explaining why you’re suddenly back in your feel-good era.

This trend is low-pressure, direct, and a nice reminder that even a small shift can change your whole mood.
