TikTok Trends: June

“Don’t make yourself look like an idiot trying silly trends.”

“You don’t have to jump on trends to succeed.”

“Trends do nothing for your brand.”

Somewhere along the line of social media marketing experts, trends became a dirty word.

Allow me to share my unpopular opinion:

That’s all a crock of B.S.

Trends are a great tool for anyone on social media.

Here’s why:

  1. Trends humanize your brand. Brands are companies, they aren’t humans. BUT a good social account brings a brand’s personality to life. A brand or creator using a trend shows that you are current and responsive, not static.

  2. They’re easy to do! Most trends are a great jump-off point for creativity and take away steep mountain of having to start with a blank page for content.

  3. They’re an entry to the conversation, lowering the stakes when you introduce yourself to strangers. Just like when you walk into a party, you don’t want just to start talking about yourself, trends allow you to “fit in” to the conversation, and weigh in on a shared inside joke!

  4. Trends take advantage of trending audio. This is key for distribution, you will not get as high of views on your content if you don’t use trending audio. Periodt.

  5. Trends do well on social media. I publish hundreds of videos on social media a month. Trends consistently get good reach and engagement. Periodt again.

The best of the best creators know now that using trends in their branded content will get better views.

So next time you work with a creator, or are a creator needing to pitch your next piece...

Ditch the unique commercial script.

Use and embrace the trends! :)

Who Said That

This trend is for moms who have thought about it, maybe even whispered it, but are now ready to yell it from the rooftops and…then pretend they didn't.

Do you have a spicy, hot take that the world deserves to hear? Here's what to do:

  • Look away from the camera and launch a hot take into the air as if it were a stress ball.

  • A dramatic "DUN" sound hits.

  • You turn back to the camera, wide-eyed and fake-confused, and ask,

  • "Who said that?"

(It was you, and it needed to be said.)

Examples: Spending Problem, Coffee, Not friends, Tolerant, Rude, B****, Behind her back
